M3 drainage works – 11th – 29th January 2021

The Parish Council has received the following from Highways England

Dear Stakeholder

We’ll shortly be carrying out improvements to the drainage system along the M3 northbound carriageway in and around junction 6 Basingstoke Interchange. Work will involve installing additional channels and outlets, to prevent future flooding across the M3 carriageway.

To carry this work out safely whilst keeping overall disruption to a minimum, we will have lane closures in place on both the northbound and southbound carriageways overnight (Monday to Friday only) from Monday 11 January to Friday 29 January 2020.

In addition, we will be closing the M3 northbound carriageway between the exit and entry slip roads at junction 6, from 9pm on Friday 22 January through to 6am on Monday 25 January 2021. In addition, lane 3 of the M3 southbound carriageway will be closed during the same period, as part of the safe working area for our crews.

During the closure, traffic will be diverted off the M3 via the exit slip road, across the roundabout to re-join the M3 via the entry slip road. Any residents or visitors for Basingstoke (from the A303 eastbound or M3 northbound) are recommended to use junction 7 during the closure.

Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles on blue light calls only.

We do anticipate there will be some delays during this weekend, so will be advertising the closure via letters, the media, social media and signage. We encourage you to use the information from this letter to alert your communities of the works, to enable all road users to plan their journey in advance.

We would like to apologise in advance for any disruption you may experience during this work. If you have any questions, or if you would like to know about our work, please contact us on 0300 123 5000 or email info@highwaysengland.co.uk

Yours faithfully
