On the 2nd June, 2022, Bramley Parish Council is preparing to celebrate the occasion of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with other councils, towns, and cities across the UK and Commonwealth with the lighting of the Beacon on Clift Meadow. Bruno Peek is the Pageant Master arranging this celebration and has arranged a timetable for the event with the Beacons being lit at 9.09 in the evening.
Prior to this, there are certain things that are happening.
- Town Criers across the country will be declaring a Proclamation at 1pm. We could do this prior to the Beacon being lit if we can find a person with a strong voice. Any offers?
- Choirs across the country will be encouraged to sing a specially written song coinciding with the lighting of the Beacon. A competition to select the song will take place throughout the Commonwealth. We are looking for a choir?
- As the Sun sets at 9.09pm across the UK and the Commonwealth, individual pipers and pipe bands are being asked to play “Diu Regnare” from central locations within their communities as a personal tribute to Her Majesty The Queen. Have we a PIPER in our midst?
So, prior to lighting the Beacon, it would be good if we could find within our community a person with a LOUD VOICE, a CHOIR, and a PIPER.
Bramley Parish Council will be putting on some food etc. as yet to be decided, but if you can help with filling in the position of Crier, Choir or Piper, please contact the Parish Clerk at clerk@bramley-pc.gov.uk Let’s make this a special event for the whole community.
