We have received information of a road closure notice for Bramley Road and Sherfield Road. Please note that Bramley Road and Sherfield Road will not be closed for the whole period. Route diversion maps are available at the link at the end of this post.
- There is likely to be some phases of work which will require a closure on Bramley Lane and during this time, the proposed diversion route to access Bramley Lane from the north will be via Minchens Lane, Olivers Lane, Bramley Lane.
- There may be a need for road closures on Sherfield Road during particular phases of this work. If required, the expectation is that this will be two weekends or possibly night working. Closures of Sherfield Road will only be used if there is no safe or practical alternative to complete the work. Diversion route during this closure would pick traffic up on A33/A340 and divert via Basingstoke ring road.

THE BASINGSTOKE AND DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) (BRAMLEY LANE AND SHERFIELD ROAD, SHERFIELD ON LODDON) ORDER 2021
Notice is hereby given that Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council pursuant to arrangements made under Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972 with Hampshire County Council in exercise of the powers of the said County Council and in exercise of the powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers has made the following Order:-
Reason for Order: The Council are satisfied that traffic on the road should be restricted or prohibited because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road.
Effect of Order: All traffic will be prohibited from travelling along Bramley Lane and Sherfield Road, Sherfield on Loddon, Bramley Lane closure – from junction with Sherfield Road 60m north to Bromelia Close.
Sherfield Road closure – from junction with Reading Road to western side of level crossing in Bramley village, as directed by traffic signs. The closure is Hampshire County Council highway improvements and associated utility works
Note: Road closure durations will be minimised. *The closure of Sherfield Road will only be enforced if no alternative can be found to undertake the works safely.
Duration of Order: The order will come into effect on 01 February 2021 for 18 months. (Notwithstanding the above it is expected that the closure will be 7 months).
Alternative Route: Bramley Lane closure (local diversion) via Bramley Lane north, Oliver’s Lane, Minchens Lane, Folly Lane, The St and Sherfield Road.
